- OUR PURPOSE
-
In
order
to glorify God and using the Bible as our guide:
-
Our
purpose is to reach new people and help them become obedient
followers of Jesus Christ who in turn help others to become obedient
followers of Jesus Christ.
- OUR
BELIEF
We
BELIEVE
in one God, Creator of all, infinitely perfect and eternally
existing in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We
BELIEVE
that Jesus Christ is the true God and true man, conceived of
the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as
a sacrifice for our sins, rose bodily from the dead and ascended
into heaven, where at the right hand of God, He is our High Priest
and Advocate. We
BELIEVE
that
the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Christ, convicting
men, regenerating the believing sinner, indwelling, guiding, and
empowering the believer for Godly living and service.

ANGELS by Bob
Buckler
-
Some years ago when I
was active in the
service aspect of my
business I had the task
of replacing an
air-conditioning
compressor on the
roof of the Free Clinic,
in downtown San Pedro.
Normally this is a
one-man job, if all goes
well, but this was not
to be the case this day.
It was early morning,
the traffic was light so
I was able to park
next to the building
where I could set up my
ladder to the roof. I
extended it eighteen
feet and set it securely
against the building,
making sure the feet
were firmly positioned
on the sidewalk. All was
going well. Very little
foot traffic. Now to get
the compressor to the
roof. It comes packaged
in a carton for
protection and ease of
handling. The
-
way I had chosen to get
this on the roof was to
put it on my shoulder,
grabbing it firmly with
one arm halfway around
the carton leaving the
other hand to grasp the
rungs of the ladder to
pull me upwards. The
compressor is not firmly
packed in the carton and
tends to move around but
I found if you tuck it
in between your neck and
shoulder it felt secure.
The weight is fairly
substantial but once I
got it on my shoulder
and tucked away I was
ready to commence the
balancing act upward to
the roof. About halfway
up I realized all was
not right. The
compressor had shifted
its position in the
carton and I was
gradually losing
control. I soon came to
the conclusion that if I
didn't let
-
go of the compressor it
would pull me crashing
to the sidewalk. With
that choice at hand I
suppose the sensible
thing to do would be to
drop the compressor,
however, without giving
it a thought, I started
talking to God. God is a
great companion and I
try to keep in touch
with him as one would a
good friend. “I’ve got a
problem here,” I uttered
with a surprised sense
of calmness. “I need
your help.” No sooner
had I pleaded my case
then a man appeared at
the foot of my ladder
along side of me and
together we were able to
steady the load and
gradually work our way
down to safety. At this
point I was somewhat
exhausted from the
experience and before I
could regain my
composure the man had
disappeared. I was
disappointed as I felt I
owed this person a deep
sense of gratitude for
preventing a serious
accident. As I have had
time to reflect on this
incident I am convinced
that God responded to my
plea by sending an angel
to protect me and
prevent a disaster. Was
it because he values
compressors and could
not bear to see it
destroyed. I think not.
I prefer to believe that
as he said, “I am with
you always, even to the
end of the age.” It was
his way of assuring me
that he would always be
there in my time of
need.
